Some Halogen Oven Hot Pot Cooking

So I bought a Halogen Oven (Andrew James) I've only really used it for toast....not been hungry enough for a proper big meal yet. After playing a 5 a side football match, I thought, I fancy a baked tatty!

Baked Tatty Basic Version
Wash your potato
Pierce the potato skin with a fork
Rub in some Hemp Oil
Place on the Hi Rack in the Halogen Oven
Temp = 200c
time = 45

Eat with cheese and coleslaw!!!

Hemp oil crisps up the skin and the potato was just nice and creamy the way I like it....more baked potatoes to bake me thinks!!

Couple baked Tatties and a Steak that could choke a horse!

I really fancied a steak, so went out, hit a supermarket. Picked up some Potatoes and salad stuff. Next stop meat counter...the sirloins that were already cut just looked a wee bit....WEE. The butcher cut me a fresh one about an inch thick. I did n't think about it until I put it on the grill...even after he told me the price!! Wasnae cheap!!

So.....
For a meal that will fill you right to the top....take

2 x baking potatoes
1 x inch thick Sirloin steak
Fixings for a salad...your choice
Shredded Mozzarella
Coleslaw

Take a knife and just lightly score the steak.
Rub in some hemp/olive oil, rub in some Schwarz Steak seasoning and let sit for a while in the fridge.

Since I was wanting everything ready at the same time I adjusted the heat settings and cooking time for the potatoes...

Wash the potatoes, prick with a fork and rub in some hemp or olive oil.
Put said potatoes, after pre-heating the halogen oven, on for 25 minutes at 250c on the top grill.
After this stage of the cooking, make some room on the grill for the sirloin steak...and continue for another 10 minutes.

Let the steak rest, prepare the salad, put some butter in the cut potatoes and fill with Mozzorella and coleslaw.

Now eat the lot....if you can!!!

A note about the steak, it was cooked medium rare, so experiment with time and temperature.

Roast Cabbage and Courgettes (Zucchini) and Bacon

You can use any cabbage for this, I used sweetheart cabbage. I cut in half length ways washed and dried in a salad spinner drier thingy. Peeled 4 cloves of garlic, chopped and peeled a small/medium onion and chopped a courgette up after I washed it. Got about 8 rashers of streaky bacon and roughly chopped up....add to a large bowl....add a generous pour of extra virgin olive oil....in to the halogen oven baking/roasting tin....220C for an hour cooked up some wholewheat pasta....delicious....experiment with seasoning as some streaky bacon could be more salty than others...but be careful, you could ruin the dish!!!

Yes the cabbage leaves may burn but that to me is what you want...the bacon fat mixes through and flavours everything too..
