So I bought a Halogen Oven (Andrew James) I've only really used it for toast....not been hungry enough for a proper big meal yet. After playing a 5 a side football match, I thought, I fancy a baked tatty!
Baked Tatty Basic Version
Wash your potato
Pierce the potato skin with a fork
Rub in some Hemp Oil
Place on the Hi Rack in the Halogen Oven
Temp = 200c
time = 45
Eat with cheese and coleslaw!!!
Hemp oil crisps up the skin and the potato was just nice and creamy the way I like it....more baked potatoes to bake me thinks!!
Couple baked Tatties and a Steak that could choke a horse!
I really fancied a steak, so went out, hit a supermarket. Picked up some Potatoes and salad stuff. Next stop meat counter...the sirloins that were already cut just looked a wee bit....WEE. The butcher cut me a fresh one about an inch thick. I did n't think about it until I put it on the grill...even after he told me the price!! Wasnae cheap!!
So.....
For a meal that will fill you right to the top....take
2 x baking potatoes
1 x inch thick Sirloin steak
Fixings for a salad...your choice
Shredded Mozzarella
Coleslaw
Take a knife and just lightly score the steak.
Rub in some hemp/olive oil, rub in some Schwarz Steak seasoning and let sit for a while in the fridge.
Since I was wanting everything ready at the same time I adjusted the heat settings and cooking time for the potatoes...
Wash the potatoes, prick with a fork and rub in some hemp or olive oil.
Put said potatoes, after pre-heating the halogen oven, on for 25 minutes at 250c on the top grill.
After this stage of the cooking, make some room on the grill for the sirloin steak...and continue for another 10 minutes.
Let the steak rest, prepare the salad, put some butter in the cut potatoes and fill with Mozzorella and coleslaw.
Now eat the lot....if you can!!!
A note about the steak, it was cooked medium rare, so experiment with time and temperature.
Roast Cabbage and Courgettes (Zucchini) and Bacon
You can use any cabbage for this, I used sweetheart cabbage. I cut in half length ways washed and dried in a salad spinner drier thingy. Peeled 4 cloves of garlic, chopped and peeled a small/medium onion and chopped a courgette up after I washed it. Got about 8 rashers of streaky bacon and roughly chopped up....add to a large bowl....add a generous pour of extra virgin olive oil....in to the halogen oven baking/roasting tin....220C for an hour cooked up some wholewheat pasta....delicious....experiment with seasoning as some streaky bacon could be more salty than others...but be careful, you could ruin the dish!!!
Yes the cabbage leaves may burn but that to me is what you want...the bacon fat mixes through and flavours everything too..
My recipes and the groceries I'll need for them. Now if I could only discover portion control....

Power to the Porridge
Some Scottish folk get right annoyed if you do not take porridge the traditional Scottish way. Made with water and salt....I say... bollocks to that.
Porridge with goats milk is my preference, with a cut up banana and honey, is a quick way
Steep a bowl of porridge in a quality apple juice with some dried fruit in the fridge over night.
Porridge cooked with goats milk, measure of protein powder and a mix of nuts or seeds, maybes both. Great breakfast or post workout dish.

Porridge can be blitzed in a smoothie too

Smoothy Recipes
Just getting used to my Nutribullet and I think it's cracking! Really gets the food down to a more liquid consistency when compared to a blender. Anyhoo, I was referred to the Dental Hospital...by my Dentist of course...and on the way back along Quatermile and Lauriston Place in Edinburgh, I spied a wee dookit or hawf, that a food vendor was opening up, at the wee lane that takes you down to the Meadows...we started blabbing and I was looking for breakfast....he made crepes and smoothies and stuff...he gave me a delicious banana and avacado smoothy and a cracking banana crepe!! This guy is Brazilian and apparently this drink is their Irn Bru....I told him about my Gran cooking fish in milk and Cullen Skink and stuff....
Anyhoo....take
A banana minus the skin
1/2 an avacado
a dod of honey (to taste)
say 6-12 almonds
fill with milk to the Level marker on the nutribullet...and turn on...
Dunno what to call this one...but it tastes magic!!
1 Banana
Handful of frozen mixed berries
Heaped teaspoon maca powder
A few almonds
fill with goats milk to max level and blast it.
Peanut Protein
Made this one up myself
I banana
sprinkling Goji Berries
Sprinkling Cocoa Nibbs
2 tablespoons organic peanut butter
heaped teaspoon Maca Powder
Marks & Spencers Soya drink to the Max line on the nutribullet
blast for a minute......CLASS
A liitle note about the product MILK
These are my personal findings and you do not have to follow them.
To save my sinuses I shy away from dairy milk. I read an article a few years ago that promoted Goats Milk as the fats and proteins are easier to absorb in the human body and it is good for sufferers of Arthritis. I have looked at mainstream supermarket nut milks like Hazelnut and Almond milks and they have extra things added to them, that in my opinion you do not need. I like Marks & Spencers Soya milk drink (not checked the ingredients now I think about it!!). I would recommend Health Food store nut milk drinks, so far, the two brands I have used are just the natural nut milk and agave syrup which is a well used ingredient on American smoothie webpages I have read. My go to milk is Goat Milk....so switch between the milks you like all down to personal preference!!
Casein Peanut Protein
Made this one up myself
I banana
sprinkling Goji Berries
Sprinkling Cocoa Nibbs
2 tablespoons organic peanut butter
2 tablespoons Cottage Cheese (for casein protein)
heaped teaspoon Maca Powder
Organic Oatly to the Max line on the nutribullet
blast for a minute......CLASS
Use Organic Oatly as it did not have the added calcium these food companies fire extra calcium and vitamins in that you probably dont need if you have a good diet...in my humble opinion....now should I take out a disclaimer if I'm sued????
A link that has given me a few ideas is....
